For this Lab I created a Map of the main UWF Campus’s location. This map includes a map of Florida, including its interstate system, major rivers, major cities, and its counties as a reference (Top Right). The main map is of Escambia county. This map includes Escambia counties Interstate system (Red), major rivers (Blue), the two biggest areas labeled, and UWF's Main campus.
This Lab focused on teaching the essential map elements expected to be used in every future map I make. These map elements include, legends, scale bars, north arrows, labels, titles, signature and date, and Data source used. I learned how to prepare a map layout in the beginning of this lab as well as how to view and understand metadata. This way I can make and understand my maps in their entirety. I was introduced to query and attribute tables in this lab. With this information I will be able to label my maps and incorporate this knowledge into future projects. Clipping and geoprocessing were big learning outcomes as well. I now understand how to clip and isolate data I need to show in just one place, as well as how to use the tools tab to complete tasks. Overall this was a productive lab that I learned a lot from and can now build on.
